A car crashed into a Santa Ynez gazebo Thursday morning, harming an off-duty firefighter and his three-year-old son, who was pinned beneath the vehicle.

The father and his toddler were seated in the gazebo in front of El Rancho Market when a silver sedan rammed through the structure, trapping the young child underneath. The father was able to pry his son out of the rubble as firefighters, first responders, and California Highway Patrol officers arrived.

The father and son were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where they were treated for moderate injuries.

The 73-year-old female driver and her husband were not injured.
