S.B. Bowl Dishes Cash

More than $160,000 was doled out by the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation to a wide variety of performing arts organizations in 2013, with the funds coming both from generous private donors and from $1 per ticket sold. The Bowl’s Education Outreach Committee selected the numerous recipients, including many organizations that supported music and performing arts education during and after the school day. Among other groups awarded money were Cameron Tummel Rhythm Instruction, Boxtales Theatre Group, Santa Barbara Dance Institute, Girls Rock, Music!, Notes for Notes, Dos Pueblos High School Band Boosters, San Marcos High School Band Boosters, Everybody Dance Now, the Santa Barbara Children’s Chorus, and Michael Katz Storytelling, whose founder, Michael Katz, explained, “For the first time in 20 years of teaching storytelling to elementary school students, I reached every student in the 13 public schools of the City of Santa Barbara….These experiences could not have happened without the Santa Barbara Bowl’s Education Outreach program.”
