This week’s sentencing of Jeremy Bordegaray was delayed and a bench warrant issued after the 30-year-old was arrested in Cayucos for violating his probation. In October 2013, Bordegaray — arrested for trespassing in a Carpinteria neighborhood with a loaded handgun in his backpack — slipped his handcuffs and stole a Sheriff’s car. Deputies gave chase and shot him multiple times. (Bordegaray has filed a civil suit against the county for excessive force.) Last November, he struck a plea deal to spend five years in prison.
