The Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce is working with DELuxLED to offer businesses electricity- and money-saving lighting for a dollar apiece. Jamie Weaver, who owns Goleta’s DELuxLED with her husband Jason, explained that they buy from the manufacturer a variety of LED (light emitting diode) lights that can replace the most commonly used lighting in restaurants and other businesses. They then prepare the copious paperwork to get the rebates offered by manufacturers and utilities like SoCalEdison and PG&E, which results in their ability to sell the LEDs for only a dollar.

The advantage of LEDs over traditional lighting are many. There’s the lack of toxic materials that are present in some low-energy bulbs, less need for air conditioning as LEDs emit much less heat, and as much as a 90 percent savings in electricity use. Her company, an offshoot of the Weavers’ decade-old business Starlights Inc., also installs and replaces the bulbs, said Weaver, which come with the manufacturer’s warranty. DELuxLED charges no delivery costs, Weaver added, and their program will last as long as the rebates do. Contact DELuxLED at (805) 308-2995 or for more information.
