John Longbrake, the head of UCSB’s Public Affairs department, announced his departure from the university this week after less than three years on the job. With an impressive résumé in positions at Harvard, Yale, and the U.S. Treasury Department, Longbrake played an instrumental role in developing the school’s digital communications strategy. He heads to the University of Chicago to take over as Vice President for Communications on 8/24. Chancellor Henry Yang said in a statement he is grateful for Longbrake’s “many contributions” and wished him “well in the next phase of his career.”
