SBCC Offers Alternate Transport Choices
City College Asks Students and Faculty to Ride-Share, Bus, Shuttle, or Bike
A sustainable commute program at Santa Barbara City College offers alternatives to driving a single occupancy vehicle during the college’s hectic fall semester, set to begin Monday, August 24. SBCC’s Commute Program kicks off just one week before Caltrans roadwork closes the southbound U.S. 101 off-ramp at Castillo Street —which many students use to get to campus — for four weeks. In addition to improving biking options on campus, the college will offer free shuttles for students, faculty, and staff between the Main Campus, Wake Campus, and the parking lot at Garden Street and Cabrillo Boulevard. Zipcars, an expanded 15X Express bus route from Isla Vista to SBCC, and a reward program for students and employees who carpool will also be in place.
