Bruce Porter Deserves an ‘F’

I found it shocking and sadly telling that in a recent cover story about the five candidates running for 3rd District supervisor, Bruce Porter, when called out on a slanderous lie against opponent Joan Hartmann, did not deny it. When asked to confirm his remark that Hartmann was affiliated with a long-defunct activist movement, with absolutely no evidence to back his lie, he cynically said, “The South Coast machine, as I call it, has had a succession of candidates … that have been supportive of that group. I didn’t work it out in any kind of detail.”

Is he the kind of public official you want making decisions for the 3rd District and Santa Barbara County? I sure don’t. Shame on you, Bruce Porter. As a member of the Santa Ynez Valley High School Board and candidate for supervisor, you fail. Is this the kind of example you want to set for the graduates of SYV Union High School?
