Carpinteria will host the next phase of the Highway 101 widening project, with the Linden and Casitas Pass crossings above the highway slated for improvements beginning in the fall. The city’s Chamber of Commerce will host a meeting to discuss impacts and give an overview. Immediately afterward will be a discussion of an Open Streets festival planned for April 1, 2017. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, at the Carpinteria Arts Center, 855 Linden Avenue.

Open Streets will close stretches of Carpinteria thoroughfares for physical fitness sessions, public health and wellness encounters, and biking, skating, walking, and community pride, a press release reports. The meetup, which starts at roughly 6:30 p.m., includes food and refreshments, a short film, and ideas from participants. For more information, contact the Chamber at (805) 684-5479.
