An e-bike rider headed eastbound on Carrillo Street crashed to the asphalt near Chino Street mid-morning on July 22. Witnesses told Santa Barbara police she lost control of the two-wheeler and fell at the bottom of the hill. The rider was an adult woman who was not wearing a helmet, said Lieutenant Ryan DeJohn, and was taken to Cottage Hospital with a serious head injury. The injured rider’s name was not released, and police continue to investigate.
