Repent, and Zin Some More!!

Winemaker Chris Dearden (pictured below) hits it out of the park
once again, with his 2004 Benessere Estate Napa Valley Zinfandel, a
sexy, forward Napa Valley zinfandel from the “Black Glass
Vineyard.” Nearly opaque and alluringly viscous, this dark purple
wine yields up plenty of notes of boysenberry jam, black and white
peppercorns, and a catch of fresh raspberries. The mouthfeel is
elegant and warm and the finish is like the Energizer Bunny…..it
just keeps going, and going, and going.

I paired the Black Glass Zin with several cheeses, and it
virtually sang with a good Petite Basque. Add a bit of lavender-flavored
honey to a slice of Petite Basque or Asiago, throw in some lightly toasted pecans, and
you’re good to go. This is the perfect holiday wine.
