Early on 8/19, Elizabeth Anne Vallejo, 42, died after being struck by an SUV in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, near the Garden Street exit. The SUV, a 1999 Toyota 4Runner, was driven by 21-year-old Anthony Russo of Riverside. According to police, Vallejo was likely homeless in Santa Barbara at the time of her death. The coroner will conduct a toxicology exam on Vallejo to determine the presence of intoxicants at the time of the collision. Russo was uninjured.
