Cell phones are more popular than the Internet for purposes of mass communication and information access, according to a national study done by UCSB researchers, along with researchers from Rutgers University in New Jersey. According to the study, one in seven people do not use either the Internet or a mobile phone. Two-thirds of people use the Internet, while three-quarters have a cell phone. Cell phones are easier and simpler to use, said Ronald Rice, a professor of mass communication at UCSB.
