Last year, the Super Bowl Sunday caused 214 road accidents in California, claiming five lives. This year, the California Highway Patrol aims to remind those drinking on Super Bowl Sunday to designate a sober driver and prevent the same kind of tragic losses which occurred last year. “Driving under the influence (DUI) is a persistent problem,” said CHP Commissioner Mike Brown. “It causes needless and tragic loss of life each year. Prevention is simple, designate a sober driver and arrive alive.” The CHP encourages people to report drunk driving by calling 9-1-1.
