BALANCING ACT: Staff photographer Paul Wellman could easily be considered The Indy‘s favorite unsung hero. Juggling assignments that range from courtroom quarrels to classical concertos to protest rallies (often in the same day), our camera-wielding superstar truly does it all. But as the pages to follow will prove, Wellman is not the only face behind the lens. Were it not for the fine work of our regular contributing photographers David Bazemore, Jen Villa, Dwight McCann, Larry Mills, Tony Mastres, Leslie Holtzman, Michelle Wong, John Goodman, and our wildlife correspondent extraordinaire Ray Ford, Independent 2008 could not have been the visual success it was. And through this year’s annual Year in Pictures issue, you’ll understand why.
