• Have a warm and cozy place to sleep every night? Then give to those less fortunate than you by donating a blanket to Casa Esperanza Homeless Shelter-an S.B. institution that provides blankets to needy people to whom it can’t provide shelter because of a drastic increase in demand for beds during the chilly winter months. The shelter, however, is completely out of blankets, and is asking any Santa Barbaran who can help to drop off a blanket-new or used-at the shelter (816 Cacique St.) at any time, or call 884-0123 for more info.

• Volunteers at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital will be holding a jewelry sale this week to raise funds for badly needed new hospital equipment. Every item in their jewelry selection-which will include basic baubles such as earrings, necklaces, and rings, as well as more unique pieces like kids’ jewelry, and items for men-will be priced at just $5. The fundraiser sale will be held in the hospital’s main lobby from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, February 9 and 10. Call 962-9200 for more info.
