Direct Relief to Distribute Masks at Noon
Residents Can Pick Them Up at Loreto Plaza, Lazy Acres
In light of poor air quality as a result of the Jesusita Fire, Direct Relief will be distributing masks to residents today at noon. They will be available at Loreto Plaza (at the corner of State and Las Positas) as well as at Lazy Acres (302 Meigs Road, up on the mesa).
The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and Air Pollution Control District has issued air quality warnings for southern Santa Barbara. Wind is stirring smoke and soot particles towards various areas of the city, depending on wind direction and these weather conditions are expected to worsen as late afternoon nears. Citizens are encouraged to use common sense in protecting their health. Those with existing respiratory problems in particular should exercise caution. People are discouraged from exercising outdoors.
