Mysteries of Recycling Explained
Citizens Planning Association Hosts Workshop at Library
To further educate Santa Barbara residents about recycling, the Citizens Planning Association (CPA) is hosting a free community workshop entitled “The Insider’s Guide to Recycling.” It will take place in the Faulkner Gallery at the downtown branch of the Santa Barbara Public Library from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.
Celeste Carlisle will facilitate, tackling a broad range of recycling issues, ranging from the seemingly simple-e.g. the question of what is recyclable and what isn’t-to more intricate questions, such as what is to be done with hazardous waste or construction materials. Carlisle, who is the outreach coordinator for the City of Santa Barbara’s Services Division, will also introduce attendees to special opportunities available in the Santa Barbara area such as Christmas tree recycling and Nike’s Reuse-a-Shoe program.
CPA’s executive director, Naomi Kovacs, has high hopes for the applicability of the workshop’s lessons.
“This workshop is a real opportunity for people who want to become better at recycling and want to learn not only the basics, but also some unexpected tips and resources to help them do so,” Kovacs said.
