Hone Your Knowledge of Gardening Topics
Back to school isn’t just for kids. Adult gardeners have the chance to hone their knowledge about many gardening topics by enrolling in the Master Gardener Training Program. Not only do participants gain a solid grounding in gardening theory, they share their new information with the community by volunteering on the Master Garden Helpline or at a number of other venues. Eighty hours of instruction in the Essentials of Botany and Horticulture, Soils and Fertilizers, Plant Pathology, and the care of a variety of plant types, as well as Sustainable Landscape techniques, will result in knowledgeable citizens ready to improve their own gardens and those of their neighbors through another 80 hours of volunteer help.
The required orientation meeting will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Public Health Auditorium, 300 San Antonio Road. Training sessions are scheduled for Thursdays, 12:30-4:30 p.m., beginning October 15 and ending March 18.
