Behind the Music: UCSB senior Brittany Kyles may not have known just what she was getting into when she signed up to be The Indy‘s first bands intern, but with 2009’s S.B. Band Guide behind her, she feels all the better for it. “I learned that Santa Barbara has a really talented music scene,” she said of the experience. “There were actually quite a few groups that I really liked that I discovered through the process.” Kyles, who spent the past two months compiling this week’s issue, plans to pursue her master’s in journalism post-graduation, meaning we may see more from this budding writer in the coming years. “Maybe one day I could be so lucky [to work] for Rolling Stone. If not, I would be happy writing and reporting on all sorts of entertainment in the arts.”
