Santa Barbara city fire investigators declared an early morning vehicle fire to be “suspicious in nature.”

A city-owned vehicle caught fire just after 5 a.m. Friday morning, December 18 in the 100 block of Harbor Way. Harbor Patrol units arrived first to find the vehicle engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished quickly, but did cause some minor damage to another city vehicle and to the exterior of the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum near where the vehicle was parked. There was no interior damage to the museum and there were no injuries reported from the fire.

Investigators continue to look into the fire.
