Nava Talks Accountability of Corporate Political Expenditures
Assemblymember Pedro Nava was joined by the California Public Interest Research Group (CalPIRG), environmental organizations, and labor unions for a 6/14 press conference on Assembly Bill 919, the Corporate Political Expenditure Accountability Act. The measure, according to a spokesperson in Nava’s office, will hold corporations accountable to shareholders for political expenditures by requiring an annual detailing of the type, purpose, cost, and benefit of a company’s political activities and expenses. “In the wake of Propositions 16 and 17, it is clear that corporations need to be held accountable for their political decisions,” said Nava.
