Goleta Head-On Collision Traps Driver
Removing Driver Takes 50 Minutes
At 2:06pm, Santa Barbara County Fire Department (SBC FD) responded to a vehicle accident in the 5300 Block of Shoreline Drive, in Goleta. (Shoreline Dr. is at the end of South Patterson Ave). SBC FD responded one engine, a ladder truck, and a Battalion chief to the scene. SBCFD was assisted by American Medical Response and the California Highway Patrol.
The accident involved two vehicles that crashed head-on with one person trapped. One of the vehicles, a moderate sized SUV, left the roadway and landed in a water filled drainage ditch. That driver, a 46-year-old male, sustained moderate injuries.
It took firefighters 50 minutes to remove the driver from the vehicle.
The driver was transported to the hospital via AMR. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
