Plan Afoot to Merge Three Homeless Organizations
Proposal Grew from Belief That Work is Uncoordinated
A plan to merge three organizations that work to solve homeless issues in Santa Barbara County is currently before the County Board of Supervisors, though details are still being fleshed out and aspects of it will likely change in the coming months.
This new entity, which hasn’t been named, would unite The Ten Year Plan (or Bringing Our Community Home), the South Coast Homeless Advisory Committees and Common Ground Santa Barbara into a single structure with four subcommittees, a Coordinating Council, and a Leadership Council at the very top setting policy direction. The Leadership Council would be comprised of elected officials, including two supervisors, from at least three jurisdictions. This idea came from the observation that, in cities that have elected leaders intricately involved in solving homeless problems, more is accomplished. To read more go to homelessinsb.org
