The trial for Benjamin Vargas, accused of murdering Vincent Velasquez in Isla Vista in May, has been pushed back to begin no sooner than September after it was originally scheduled to start next week. Velasquez was stabbed several times during a drunken scuffle, but Vargas’s attorney has said the stabbing was self-defense. The lawyers were still analyzing and exchanging evidence as the case heads to a trial, which is supposed to take about three weeks.
