It’s a difficult world right now, for the 99% anyway, but I at least am ready for some serious celebrating because Santa Rosa Island is finally on the verge of becoming the National Park unit it was meant to be for a very long time now. Kudos to the Sierra Club and National Parks Conservation Association and various members of The Masses who worked long and hard to get the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service to actually treat the island like it was in a national park and actually in the United States, for that matter, vis a vis the Endangered Species Act and a few other laws.

As usual, the press has soft-pedaled the real scandals and given total focus to the poor Vails [the ranching family that once owned the island] being evicted by Uncle Sam. Well, let ’em mope, so long as they leave.
