Holidays Won't Slow Down Business-Related Happenings
Saks 5th Avenue Charity Shopping for Nanomedicine will have an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. December 6 to benefit the Center for Nanomedicine, a nonprofit biomedical research institute based in Santa Barbara. Saks Fifth Avenue is at the corner of State and Carrillo streets.
Deckers Outdoor Corp. will break ground on its global corporate headquarters in Goleta at an 11 a.m. December 7 ceremony in Cabrillo Business Park, at the corner of Hollister Avenue and Los Carneros Road. Company officials want to move in to the new building by the second quarter of 2013.
The Association for Women in Communications will have its holiday party from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on December 7 at the Canary Hotel. Cost is $10 to $40.
A weekly business and networking luncheon for small business owners will feature speakers Janie Arnold, Leads Club Chapter consultant, and David Machacek of Independent Capital Management at 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on December 7 at Marmalade Café in La Cumbre Plaza. Cost is $15.
The Chambers of Commerce Alliance of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties’ annual meeting will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. December 9 at the Rincon Beach Club. The cost is $25 per person or $200 for a table of 10.
A volunteer committee meeting for Relay For Life will be at 6:30 p.m. on December 12 at Business First Bank, 1035 State Street, to begin planning the event designed to raise funds and awareness of the fight against cancer in the community. Volunteers are being recruited for the event planning committee to ensure the April 21 and 22 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Santa Barbara is a success.
The annual free Santa Barbara Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Holiday Mixer will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. December 13 at El Torito Restaurant, 24 East Cabrillo Boulevard. New restaurant manager Richard Leal will be the host.
The Canary Hotel will open its rooftop for one day from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on December 14 for its “Bring Your Own Business Party-Share.”
To support the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County’s holiday food drive, guests are encouraged to bring a canned good or food for donation and be entered in Canary’s raffle drawing for an overnight stay. For $35 or $50 per person, including two drink tickets, guests can have hors d’oeuvres, seasonal drinks such as hot apple cider, and cocktails from cash bars and mingle to the sounds of holiday music.
