State Senator Tony Strickland announced this week that he is running for the 26th District congressional seat. Strickland served in the State Assembly from 1998 to 2004, and narrowly beat Hannah-Beth Jackson in 2008 to serve in the State Senate. He also ran for State Controller twice, in 2006 and 2010, losing both times. Strickland’s announcement follows the recent news that longtime U.S. Representative Elton Gallegly will not seek reelection.
