Santa Barbara Sheriff’s deputies arrested 52-year-old James Inglimo after he allegedly tried to run over a man he believed wanted to have sex with him.

The 36-year-old victim told authorities that he had answered Inglimo’s online ad for a roommate three weeks prior. After their meeting, Inglimo — convinced for unknown reasons that the victim wanted to sleep with him — began sending the victim numerous text messages with homosexual slurs.

On Wednesday, Inglimo found the victim in the parking lot of a Carpinteria Avenue motel and allegedly kicked him in the groin. He then tried to run over the victim in the truck he was driving, the victim told authorities.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Inglimo and booked him into County Jail on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon, misdemeanor battery, and felony interference with civil rights. His bail is set at $50,000.
