There’s something rotten with the current campaigning within the 19th State Senate District. Huge campaign expenditures by purported Democrat Jason Hodge and silence from perennial anti-Choice Tea Party Mike (Stoker). This is the first time I can remember a Republican candidate (usually Mike) spending close to nothing while an unknown neophyte comes out of the woodwork with tons of money to run against a well vetted candidate. This is a district where Democrats enjoy a substantial registration lead and in which Hannah-Beth Jackson should be a shoe-in. Were I a betting man, I would place odds that Stoker fans, directly or through a well structured (and hidden) PAC, are loading up Hodge with all the money he needs. Historically, our State Senate candidates enter the race after proving their worth by spending some time in a previous elected office. Stoker’s “candidate” has skipped this step.
