Africa isn’t the only place to sleep next to lions. The Santa Barbara Zoo is hosting a safari of sorts with a sleepover on its 30-acre grounds — next to the big cat exhibit. The Family Zoo Snooze is a campout for the whole clan (kids ages 5+) that includes animal introductions, hands-on educational activities, a look behind the scenes, and 500 wild beasties sleeping under the stars with you. In the morning, feast on a pancake breakfast, and ride the zoo train. All you need to bring is a tent, bedding, and clothes. The event takes place Saturday, July 14-Sunday, July 15, 6:30 p.m.-10:30 a.m., at the S.B. Zoo (500 Niños Dr.). For more information and reservations, call (805) 962-5339 or visit sbzoo.org.
