Junior Spirits 2012

Sadee Broida and Jesalyn McCollum Dance Flamenco for Fiesta

This year, two young women will be representing the Junior Spirit of Fiesta: Sadee Broida and Jesalyn McCollum. This will be, according to Old Spanish Days Boardmember Jennifer Jimmerson, the first time that this has been the case.

Broida dances with the Paloma Rios School. Along with dancing, Broida has a variety of other interests, including science, math, traveling, and playing basketball. She is also captain of the Eagles cheerleading squad. She has been active in community projects for the Red Cross, Rescue Mission, and the Humane Society, and was awarded the Optimist Club Youth Appreciation and Recognition Award for her service. She is proud to be a Junior Spirit of Fiesta, and is looking forward to the opportunity to “share her passion with Santa Barbara and her family.”

McCollum dances with the Linda Vega studio. She is a student at Valley Christian School, where she likes to read and study science and history. In addition to her passion for flamenco dancing, McCollum studies ballet and violin. She often shares her dancing and musical talents with elderly community members. In performing as Junior Spirit, she is looking forward to showing younger girls “what can be accomplished through hard work.”
