Two More Westside Stabbings in Two Days
Police Say Sunday's Incident Was Gang-Related
It was a rough weekend for the Westside, which saw two assaults with deadly weapons. After responding to an incident on the 300 block of West Arrellaga Street at 9:12 a.m. Friday morning, police found a 34-year-old with “multiple non-life-threatening stab wounds,” according to a press release. The man was treated at Cottage Hospital. No arrests have been made, and the stabbing was determined by police to have not been gang-related.
The SBPD does believe that, although the victims were not affiliated with a gang, a fight that broke out Sunday afternoon near Kowalski and Sola streets was gang-related. Police said they responded to calls at 4:48 p.m. describing multiple combatants wielding baseball bats. They found a 17-year-old male with stab wounds on the porch of 800 West Victoria Street. He and a friend of the same age were walking to a quinceanera practice when they were confronted, chased, then attacked, according to the police. The second alleged victim was not hurt. The other was taken to Cottage Hospital for treatment. Nobody has been arrested for this stabbing either.
