Ojai Valley Internet Radio Press Release
It’s exciting that so many talented musicians and writers are right here in and around our valley! We can thank Chris B. Olds for bringing this cool and free resource to anyone owning a computer or mobile device. Olds, OVIR’s founder and radio personality, has the perfect background for this endeavor being a professional musician/drummer and engineer techie. “My first love is music and making records and playing concerts. Now I get to do radio and make movies. I really do have my own fledgling media empire here,” laughs Olds having just added Ojai Valley TV to the site.
Being on the local music scene as a musician and music fan, Olds realized that not everyone has the luxury or means to get out and listen to live music. He decided to bring live music and musicians to anyone interested by utilizing available technology and collaborating with his associates Brad Myers and Patrick Westfall. Myers is OVIRadio’s roving music reporter and street team webcaster responsible for B.Rad’s Corner. A local favorite, B.Rad knows almost every musician in the area. He is often on the scene and will put out a WebCast of Thursday’s Jamboree Night every at the Deer Lodge, one of Ojai’s local restaurants and popular weekend warrior watering holes.
OVIR’s huge music library has come from several sources. One such source is Patrick Westfall’s Ojai Free Song Studio ( http://freesongstudio.org) which gave OVIR a jumpstart and one of the core reasons this project exists. A Good bit of Jonathan McEuen’s library is in there as well, with quite a few “un-released” tracks from his collaborations over the years. Visitors can listen to literally thousands of tracks from a variety of jazz, R&B, rock, country and Americana. Included are artists such as Julie Christensen, Phil Salazar, Jonathan McEuen, Smitty West, Todd Hannigan and Raymond Powers; CD’s from Perla Batalla, Natalie Gelman and Rain Perry (only naming a few.) OVIR would like to feature more bands across Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, they are encouraged to submit their CD’s or upload albums. Some bands currently included are: Restless Hillfillies, Rooster Ra and Shure Thing from Ventura.
And there’s more… also offered on OVIR:
