From 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 20, Flower Empower volunteers will be assembling the bouquets at Florabundance, 1296 Cravens Lane, Carpinteria. The day is organized into five volunteer shifts, with as many as a dozen volunteers on hand at any time. Media is invited to cover this volunteer event.

The flowers come as a gift from the California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers, which is holding a conference in Santa Barbara tomorrow. Carpinteria-based growers that donate to Flower Empower weekly recommended the association gift the flowers to Dream Foundation; it is a first-time gift.

The bouquets assembled Saturday will be delivered Sunday to nursing homes, hospitals, care facilities, private homes and hospice patients from Goleta to Carpinteria.

Flower Empower is a volunteer-driven program that delivers hope and compassion—in the form of bouquets—to those in need.

Several days each week, groups of volunteers gather at the local farmers’ market and other designated locations, where they prepare dozens of arrangements using donated flowers, and then make deliveries to hospitals, hospices and homes.

In addition to flowers, program recipients enjoy freshly baked cookies, fine chocolates and handmade cards created by compassionate volunteers.

The purpose of Flower Empower is to ensure those in need know they are not alone, and that their community cares.
