City Attorney Steve Wiley announced today that he is retiring effective December to go into private practice. Head of the City’s legal department, Wiley advises both staff and the City Council on legal matters, and represents the City when it is sued or suing. City employee for 30 years after moving from Orange County, Wiley played critical roles in the development of Pasea Nuevo, the Chase Palm Park expansion, the adoption of the 1905 Southern Pacific Railroad Depot, and the addition of much parking downtown.

Mayor Helene Schneider said in a press release, “Steve has been an expectional resource for the City Council on numerous policy issues. We’ve appreciated his candid approach and advice, keeping the City’s best interest at heart.”
