Santa Barbara City College is launching its Career Skills Institute, offering classes in marketable, 21st century business skills and filling the gap between employees’ skills and employers’ demand. On Thursday, SBCC hosted its kick-off event for the program.

Beginning September 22, the short non-credit courses will offer working professionals the opportunity to develop business, technology, and design skills. After completing a course, students will receive a “digital life skills badge” to add to their LinkedIn account.

The new curriculum, which focuses on technology skills as well as soft skills, was developed in part by lynda.com, an online video education company, and feedback from local businesses.
