County Street Closures Anticipated
Micro-Seal Resurfacing Project Paves Roads in North and South County
Numerous county roads received a rough-scrub treatment last week in preparation for the annual micro-seal project, which will commence Monday, May 23, and close about 17 miles of roads temporarily as work proceeds through to Thursday, June 2. The micro-seal will place an oil and sand surface on the roads to seal cracks and provide a new driving surface. Motorists and residents will be notified by signs and other communications that the road will be blocked while the sealant dries.
Affected roads in the North County May 23-25 include Bradley, Myrtlewood, Alderberry, Rosales, Madrone, Dogwood, Galaxy, Craig, and Campbell. On May 26-27, South County roads — Trigo, Fortuna, Picasso, and Dorking — are being treated. The following week, May 31-June 2, Dorking, Mission Canyon, Kardinge, Ortega Hill, Lillie, and Via Real between Greenwell and Padaro will be resurfaced.
Should heavy fog or unanticipated rain wet the streets sufficiently, the street for that day will be rolled to the bottom of the list and treated at the end of the schedule. Construction hours are 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 7 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday. Telfer Pavement Technologies of Martinez, California, is the contractor on the $986,060 project.
