The Santa Barbara Herb Clinic closed last week. From 1991 until earlier this year, Dr. Weidong “Henry” Han — and later his wife Huijie “Jennie” Yu — ran the thriving traditional Chinese herbal practice out of an upper State Street office. On March 23, the couple was found shot to death in their Greenhill Way home with their five-year-old daughter Emily Han.

For the past few months, Dr. Jean Yu — Dr. Han’s mentor and an herbal practitioner based in San Luis Obispo — saw patients at the Santa Barbara Herb Clinic. Dr. Han’s heir and a Santa Barbara Superior Court judge recently named Lindsay Dorner of Santa Barbara Fiduciary a special administrator for the Han estate.

Susan McCollom, an estate planning attorney who represents Dorner, said patients who need their medical records should mail a written and signed request to the Santa Barbara Fiduciary at: Santa Barbara Fiduciary, P.O. Box 90227, Santa Barbara, CA 93190. Patients should specify the address they want their medical records sent to, as well as allow two to three weeks for delivery. According to McCollom, all patient records and pharmaceutical supplies are being kept securely.

Citing pending legal actions, McCollom declined to comment on questions related to whether and when the Santa Barbara Herb Clinic would re-open.
