It’s a star-studded couple of weeks here in town, with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival just halfway through. There’s plenty to love for movie buffs, paparazzi, and industry insiders alike, with panels, tributes, and stars galore. It’s been an exciting week in other local news, too, with rain — actual, measurable amounts, but not too much all at once — saturating our garden beds and warranting a fire in the fireplace. Speaking of which, I ventured out into the rain this week to visit a new listing that has both sweet garden beds front and back, plus a fireplace in the living room!

1407 Gillespie Street is a 1930’s craftsman style home on a quiet Westside Street. Here is the living room — whose fireplace was perfect on Thursday! — plus a window seat and beautiful wood floors.

The built-ins are some of my favorite period features in this home, especially this buffet in the dining room. I love how it stands out against the white-on-white walls.

The cottage has three bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths, plus a laundry room off the kitchen.

The pièce de résistance of this property is the legal ADU/studio. Down the long driveway, behind a fence sits this completely redone studio cottage; complete with a Murphy bed!
1407 Gillespie Street is listed at $1,525,000 by Jessie Sessions, and is open today from 1-3 p.m.
