The Skinny: Since the band came together in 2003, Ventura’s Floater Six has been dedicated to combining edgy rock music arrangements with catchy and accessible lyrics that appeal to a mainstream audience. Sounding like a slightly less political Pennywise trying to recover from the worst break-up ever, Floater Six claims they want to bring the fun back to punk music. Drummer, Jeffrey “6” Barber says the band wants people to have a good time at their live shows, and listen to the lyrics, which have “messages for musicians, lovers, and people in high and low places in their lives.” They even play a convincing cover of Tom Jones’ “Its Not Unusual”- destined to inspire Carlton-style mosh pit dancing.

Upcoming Shows: Floater Six is taking part in First Thursdays on July 5 (location TBA) and are planning a West Coast tour for late 2007.
