Actor Named 2015’s Outstanding Performer of the Year

Actor Steve Carell, best known for his role in NBC’s The Office, will be honored as part of the 2015 Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). On Monday the festival named Carell its Outstanding Performer of the Year for his role in Bennett Miller’s upcoming wrestling drama, Foxcatcher. A festival spokesperson calls Carell’s performance as millionaire John de Pont “a career-defining turn” and “a testament to his versatility as a comedic and dramatic actor.”

Carell will join honorees Michael Keaton, Jean-Michel, Fabien, and Celine Cousteau, as well as actress Jessica Lange, who received the festival’s Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film on Sunday night at the Bacara Resort & Spa.
