A new fire in Lompoc was reported Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when it was about 80 acres in size had crossed Highway 1 near Santa Rosa Road and grown to 200 acres by 4 p.m. No evacuation orders had been given as of 6:30 p.m. but an evacuation warning was issued to all residents along Jalama Road, and residents of portions of Santa Road who live within five miles east/southeast of the highway. Residents should stay alert for changing conditions and be prepared to leave immediately. Firefighters with bulldozers and helicoptors and other firefighting equipment have been dispatched to the area. For current information go to to sbcfire.com.
