CHP Wrongly Identified Woman Killed in 101 Collision
Will Release Correct Name Pending Notice of Relatives
A news brief that ran in the August 23 print issue of the Independent erroneously identified a woman struck by a car and killed along northbound Highway 101 on August 19 as Elizabeth Anne Vallejo. A statement released by the California Highway Patrol on Tuesday had listed the deceased woman’s name as such. However, after further forensic testing, the CHP sent a follow-up statement that the woman was somebody else. The coroner has now correctly identified the woman, and her name will be released pending the notification of her next of kin.
