Eastside Stabbing Deemed Gang-Related
Nineteen-Year-Old Victim Suffers Multiple Wounds
Santa Barbara police are calling a Tuesday stabbing on the Eastside gang-related. One teen who was seriously injured is now in the hospital as a result. Police were called to the area of Mason and Voluntario streets at 9:49 p.m. on Tuesday after reports that gunshots were fired, according to Sgt. John Corre. When police arrived, they found 19-year-old Roberto Amador on the ground, stabbed several times, including a severe laceration to the face.
Police do have leads on suspects, but have made no arrests. Contrary to earlier reports, there was no evidence of shots being fired. Amador victim was admitted to Cottage Hospital. The department was releasing scant details, Corre said, as the investigation is ongoing. Though Corre didn’t know if Amador was a gang member, he did explain that the victim must have some gang ties in order for the incident to be called gang-related.
