Sheriffs Seek Carp Assault Suspect

Ask for Public's Help in Finding Edward Galvez

Assault suspect Edward Galvez

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a suspect in a gang-related beating that took place in Carpinteria on June 6. Edward Galvez, 28, is wanted for robbery, battery with serious injury and dissuading a witness in connection with a fight that broke out at Carpinteria and Eugenia avenues around 9 p.m.

The fight broke out when a group of six left a bar and started yelling at another group. A fistfight ensued, but no weapons were drawn. A witness who attempted to call 911 was allegedly punched and kicked by the six men, then had his cell phone stolen. He ended up with a broken rib, sprained knee and suffered internal bleeding. Deputies immediately found and arrested three suspects, and two more were arrested the next morning.

According to detectives, the sixth member of this group, Galvez, has a no bail parole warrant out for his arrest, and has ties to both Carpinteria and Ventura, but authorities have been unable to track him down.

If anyone has information about the whereabouts of Galvez, they are encouraged to call Detectives Vic Alvarez or Chris Corbett out of the Carpinteria Sheriff’s Station at (805) 568-3399) or the Sheriff’s tip line at (877) 800-9100.
