The Lowdown: If you’ve ever attended any of the Mind & Supermind lectures, you already know why this series is something most Santa Barbarans don’t want to miss. If you don’t know about Mind & Supermind, now is the time to discover what you’ve been missing.

“Life is not difficult; it’s your thinking that makes it difficult.” -Byron Katie

Byron Katie

Kicking off the series for this fall is a lecture by Byron Katie, who spoke to a packed house last spring. Back by popular demand, Katie will speak about “Living in Joy,” the topic of her most recent book, A Thousand Names for Joy: Living in Harmony with the Way Things Are. Her first two books examined suffering: why we suffer and how to free ourselves from suffering by questioning our thoughts – an innovative process she calls “The Work.” Now she takes things to the next level, teaching us how to cultivate a joyful life by fully experiencing the simplicity of what is.

If her visit last spring is any indication, there’s bound to be a large crowd, so it’s a good idea to register for the class ahead of time, which you can do at the Schott Center (310 W. Padre St.) or the Wake Center (300 N. Turnpike). For more information, call 964-6853 or see this full listing of Mind & Supermind lectures for fall 2007.
