New Postal Station Opens Nov. 19: The Milpas Station Post Office will close Saturday, November 17 and services will reopen on Monday, November 19 at the nearby East Beach Station, which is now being used for postal carriers.

The Postal Service decided to relocate from the Milpas facility, 18 S. Milpas St., which it has occupied since 1958, because the lease is expiring and the need to consolidate services.

“The new location, 107 Nopalitos Way, is only a minute or two away from the current office; about four-tenths of a mile away,” said spokesman Rich Maher.

“The move will not cause any disruption of mail service, or call for customers to change their address. P.O. Box holders at the Milpas Station Post Office will still have the same box number and ZIP code at the new location.

“The East Beach Station currently houses letter carriers and does not offer retail services. Milpas Station offered only retail and P.O. Box service. The combining of the two locations will create a complete postal location for the community in a more modern facility with plenty of parking,” Maher continued.

The Postal Service plans to notify all Milpas P.O. Box holders directly, as well as mail a postcard announcing the relocation to nearby residents and businesses in the coming weeks.

The hours of retail operation at the new location will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
