In a special session at the California Islands Symposium on 2/7 and 2/8, a presentation will be given by scientists outlining monitoring of the first five years of the Marine Protected Areas at the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. “We observed higher densities and bigger fish in marine reserves than in surrounding waters, including species that are targeted by fishing,” said Jenn Caselle, a research scientist with UC Santa Barbara.
