Bianca Licata
WRESTLES WITH WORDS: When news intern Bianca Licata isn’t writing for The Independent, she’s reporting and copyediting over at the Daily Nexus, UCSB’s student newspaper. And when she’s not there, she’s studying in pursuit of an English major. And when her class schedule allots her a few minutes of free time, Bianca fills it withwhat else?more writing. Rather than drowning in words, however, Bianca seems to be thriving, though one might expect nothing less from a girl who captained the wrestling team at Petaluma’s Casa Grande High School despite being only one of three female grapplers. Biancawhose middle name, Kamaria, is Swahili for “moon,” making her first and middle names translate into English as “white moon”says she’s interested in matters of social justice and honing her skills as a reporter.
