Actress Elizabeth Taylor made a $100,000 donation to the Santa Barbara-based Alliance for Christian Education to fund one of its programs, area preparatory school Providence Hall. Taylor, who is Jewish, said she was drawn to the preparatory school’s mission of “global educational outreach,” by the work and passion of model Kathy Ireland, a Santa Barbara native, as well as by President Obama’s suggestion that Americans should break down social barriers.
